They were your heroes in the ring, but that doesn’t mean you’re automatically going to splash the cash to see them on the big screen… Especially with wooden performances like these.

Batista (Dave Bautista)

The 46-year-old has big plans for the future, as he revealed to The Red Bulletin in a recent interview: “I look like a gorilla, but I want other people to see what I really am: a serious actor.” The jury is still out as to whether he can take over Hollywood like he did in the ring.

Biggest Roles: Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy and Mr. Hinx in Spectre.

Conclusion: Still in the developmental phase, but seems to be on the right track.

It’s not too difficult to know why Batista was called “The Animal” in WWE

The Rock (Dwayne Johnson)

Dwayne Johnson knew how to entertain both in and out of the ring, creating one of the most iconic characters wrestling has ever known. He has since carved himself out a very respectable acting career, and is one of Hollywood’s leading men at the moment – showing his ability to thrill in action blockbusters and also his versatility in buddy comedies and Disney flicks.

Biggest Roles: Agent Hobbs in the Fast and Furious franchise, King Mathayus in the Scorpion King and, erm, the Tooth Fairy.

Conclusion: He’s still The People’s Champ

Seen by many as a “passing of the baton” from the one king of the action film to the next - Arnold Schwarzenegger and “The Rock” in “Welcome to the Jungle”

Triple H (Paul Michael Levesque)

He’s gradually become the 2nd most important man in WWE due to his relationship with Vince McMahon’s daughter Stephanie. He wasn’t able to marry himself up the Hollywood ladder though…

Biggest Roles: Jarko Grimwood in Blade: Trinity.

Conclusion: Triple H as a Hollywood actor was about as successful as Rey Mysterio’s stint as the World Heavyweight Champion…

Triple H is a man you could easily picture in a romantic comedy alongside Jennifer Aniston…

Hulk Hogan (Terry Gene Bollea)

It’s no surprise that the film industry tried to cash in on the most famous wrestler in the world at the time. And it is also no surprise that his Hollywood career failed to win him any Oscars. The man with the handlebar moustache did go on to get his own TV show with Thunder in Paradise, which even lasted three whole seasons.

Biggest Roles:  Thunderlips in Rocky III and Shep Ramsey in Suburban Commando.

Conclusion: Calling yourself “Hollywood Hogan” doesn’t mean you belong there.

Kevin Nash

He was unrecognisable in his film debut in Turtles II, but he gradually found a face of his own as the wrestler “Diesel” and later under his own name. He has constantly been showing glimpses of his acting talent as well in films like The Longest Yard and Magic Mike.

Biggest Roles: Super-Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze and Tarzan in Magic Mike.

Conclusion: Anyone who is still able to impress in a stripper film at the age of 56 is doing something right…or wrong.

John Cena

Possibly the most patriotic wrestler ever to grace the ring. John Cena soon became bored with wrestling and tried his hand at music, to no success. What do you do when your music career bombs? You take Hollywood by storm (in films produced by the WWE!)

Biggest Roles:  John Triton in The Marine

Conclusion: Stick to what you’re best at John.

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin (Steven James Anderson)

He started his career as an actor alongside Don Johnson in Nash Bridges. After that promising start, the world’s favourite beer-chugging baldy failed to live up to expectations. He was able to cement his name alongside action greats in The Expendables, but he was on the wrong side.

Biggest Roles:  Dan Paine in “The Expendables”

Conclusion:  A star … “cause Stone Cold said so”
