Razzie vs Oscar: the contrast between the two couldn’t be greater. One represents something tantamount to acting shame, while the other is the pinnacle of an actor’s career. Here are four film stars who have picked up both prizes

The day before the Academy Awards are given out in a glitzy star-studded ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard, there’s another show in town that ‘honours’ the year’s most notable thesps - the Golden Raspberry. These awards, known as the Razzies, dish out some not so sought-after trophies to those who’ve starred in the biggest flops of the previous year. This year, once-acclaimed film heroes like Johnny Depp, Robert de Niro, Ben Stiller and Jared Leto find themselves on the list of nominees.

It’s not that uncommon for stars to have received both prizes: the glory of an Oscar win and the shame of a Golden Raspberry. In 2010, actress Sandra Bullock even managed to nab both awards in the space of 24 hours, albeit for different films. The following four acting greats have both a Razzie and a golden statuette locked away in their trophy cabinets. Can you guess:

  • Which Oscar-winning little devil picked up 3 Razzies?
  • Which wolf dancer has a lot more razzies than Oscars?
  • Which iconic actor had to wait until 2012 for his first Razzie?
  • Which legendary “Godfather” has (thankfully) more Oscars than Razzies?

Ben Affleck

After several years in the Hollywood wilderness following Gigli, Affleck looked to have turned a corner when Argo, which he directed, won Best Film at the Oscars in 2013. However, he’s up for a “Worst Actor” Razzie again this year, thanks to his role as the Caped Crusader in Batman vs Superman.

Oscar: 1998 for Good Will Hunting (Best Screenplay), 2013 for Argo (Best Film)

Razzie: 2004 for Daredevil, Gigli and Paycheck (Worst Actor)

Al Pacino

With eight Academy Award nominations to his name, for many years Pacino was one of the most respected actors in Hollywood. However, his star has fallen somewhat in recent years due to a number of questionable film projects.

Oscar: 1993 for Scent of a Woman (Best Actor)

Razzie: 2012 for Jack and Jill (Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screen Couple with Adam Sandler)

Marlon Brando

Brando died in 2004 hailed as one of the most iconic actors of all time. He is credited with pioneering the method acting technique, and his two Oscar wins ensure his place in the Hollywood pantheon is secure, despite his late-career performance in The Island of Doctor Moreau

Oscar: 1954 for On the Waterfront (Best Actor), 1972 for The Godfather (Best Actor)

Razzie: 1997 for The Island of Doctor Moreau (Worst Supporting Actor)
