This car ad will have you on the edge of your seat
We’re pretty sure that car adverts aren’t supposed to be as gripping as a Hollywood movie.
Try telling that to BMW. The Bavarian car giant has revealed its new short film promoting the 2017 5 Series, complete with helicopter crash, freeway chase, explosions, gunfire, and moral messaging on the subject of human cloning. ‘Papa? Nicole?’ it ain’t.
The Escape is a ten-minute short film directed by District 9’s Neill Blomkamp. The film stars Clive Owen as The Driver, a role he also played in BMW’s 2001 and 2002 film series, The Hire. Dakota Fanning stars as Lily, The Driver’s very precious cargo, whom he has to help dodge bullets, the FBI and a falling helicopter in his brand spanking new 540i. No big deal.
