Well, almost. First, you need to give them a bit of information about the kind of trip you’d like to go on, then California-based website Jubel does the rest. They’ll curate a personalised journey for you and your companion(s), from activities to try, to the different restaurants you’ll eat at.
Here’s how to plan a trip on the website, and what to expect when you reach your secret destination.
Choose your path
First of all, you have to tell Jubel which country or region you’d like to visit, as well as a theme for your trip (or “path”, as the site calls it). Each of these paths are divided into six different categories:
- Active nature (for thrillseekers on the lookout for an adventure)
- Party purist (for sociable free spirits who remain young at heart)
- Culturist (for people into museums, sightseeing and history)
- Oceanist (for beach destinations)
- Chilled nature (for those looking to embrace the peaceful solitude of nature)
- Jubeler (a diverse set of experiences for people not afraid to step outside of their comfort zone)
Where would you like to go?
Once you’ve decided a path, you’ll fill out a small questionnaire. This will allow you to specify which countries or continents you’d like to take a trip to, as well as, crucially, any places you DON’T want to go. You can also choose when your journey begins and the length of your holiday.
Less is more
It’s entirely up to you just how much of your journey you wish to keep unknown. Requests can be totally vague “a completely blind journey somewhere in the world,” or much more specific regarding the country you would like to visit. Jubel works by the “less is more” mantra, though, and says that the less that is known about your trip, the more rewarding and thrilling your experience will be.
Jubel takes care of the essentials
As with all travels to exotic places, there’s a lot of paperwork involved, and this can be tedious and time-consuming. Thankfully, Jubel is on hand to take care of much of this on your behalf. They’ll book your accommodation and send you your ticket, as well as sort out your destination, promising that it won’t be a generic tourist hotspot. Your holiday will truly be a mystery, much like the days before every corner of the globe was charted on Google Maps or snapped on Instagram.
The Jubel package
Once you’ve sent Jubel your preferences and paid for your holiday, you’ll receive a package. This includes a group of envelopes, each signalling a specific part of your journey. You’ll also find out information about the best activities and tours, plus maps, emergency contacts and important tips. Happy travels!
