Two-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez analyses the strengths and weaknesses of his closest rivals on the circuit and tells The Red Bulletin what he can learn them
Valentino Rossi

Valentino Rossi

His Strengths:

Valentino is able to use is experience to blistering effect and. He’s seen it all and knows how to turn any situation into his advantage.

His Weaknesses:

That one important lap on Saturday. He’s beatable in qualifying.

What I can learn from him:

A lot of things! He simply has so much experience in the sport. I am always impressed with how he plans his race over the course of the weekend, and gets better and better from Friday to the very last lap on Sunday.

Jorge Lorenzo

Jorge Lorenzo

His Strengths:

He’s easily able to lay down 10 lap records in a row that will only differ by 2 or 3 hundredths of a second. It’s almost impossible to get past him once he takes the lead.

His Weaknesses:

He isn’t able to deal with bike problems as well as Valentino and is affected more by them. He also breaks a little earlier than I do before corners, which can be exploited.

What I can learn from him:

His consistency and concentration levels are outstanding. He hardly ever makes a mistake once he’s in the zone.

Dani Pedrosa

Dani Pedrosa

His Strengths:

As far as raw talent goes, he’s better than all of us. He’s also the smallest rider on the circuit and has to cope with the brute force of the bikes, and for that alone he has my respect. He’s also an excellent rider in wet conditions.

His Weaknesses:

His physical attributes can be a disadvantage. His crashes often end in injury, and I think that is often in the back of his head, stopping him from taking too many risks.

What I can learn from him:

He’s shown me the best way to race MotoGP, and especially how to handle Honda bikes: and that is by breaking  aggressively. My instinct tells me to be smoother around the bends, but Dani has shown that his way is quicker.
