Football is the beautiful game. Not only on the pitch. Fans at stadiums around the world create stunning choreographies that contribute to the spectacle of the sport

Football is a sport that brings us together and this is exemplified by the coordinated visual displays created by fans at stadiums around the world. This gives fans an opportunity to voice their support and sometimes their discontent.

One thing’s for sure: being in that atmosphere will get you all fired up before the whistle has even been blown to start the match. Here are some of the best displays of support from around the world.

Legia Warsaw may be minnows on the football pitch in certain respects but you can’t say the same about the Polish team’s choreography displays. They’ve got everything; pyrotechnics, a message to UEFA for kicking them out of the Champions League, and a sea of white in which you can barely distinguish the supporters jumping as one and rocking the stands.

Galatasaray have caused upsets for many English teams over the years and their fans never give the opposition an easy ride. The Turkish side’s followers also put on some of the best choreography displays you could ever wish to see. The badge literally comes to life in the crowd of people and the ‘3D effects’ are amazing.

Dortmund lost coach Jurgen Klopp but they haven’t lost any of their style on or off the pitch. The choreos created by their fans display the team’s colours of yellow, black and white in an unabashed show of support for the players.

Choreography displays at football grounds are sometimes used to send an important message. That was the case when Liverpool supporters created a display during a league game at Anfield against their rivals Manchester United. It was a tribute to the 96 Hillsborough victims; the words “Justice” and “Truth” rose from the crowd and the rendition of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” took everyone’s breath away.

The Romanian team’s fans put on an awesome display during the Bucharest derby with Steaua; they even had a symphony orchestra playing below them in what was a brilliant example of coordinated choreography. The ‘Red Dogs’ conducting the orchestra and the musical notes were particular highlights.

In one of the biggest games in the Serie A calendar between Juventus and AC Milan, the supporters added to the already pumping atmosphere at the stadium by participating in a spectacular display. The words “Forza Juve” stands out on the main stand and it’s yet another example of what can be achieved when football fans come together.
