5 reasons why we’re excited about John Wick Chapter 2John Wick, one of the surprise hits of 2014, returns this month for the second chapter in his story. This is why we’re excited
Expectations weren’t high when it was announced that Keanu Reeves would be getting his action boots back on to play retired assassin John Wick in 2014. But Reeves and the film itself proved critics wrong as it became one of the best action films of the year, an old-school, no-holds-barred revenge-a-thon that re-instated Keanu’s credentials as a full-on action hero.
He’s now back for the 2nd chapter – with dog in tow – and there are plenty of things to be excited about. Here are the top five based on what the trailers have shown us so far.
Keanu looks meaner than ever
Forgotten are his days as Neo, this is an older, leaner and very much meaner Keanu. Like Liam Neeson before him, he looks like he’s on the verge of carving out a real niche for himself as an action man, and the best thing is, he really seems like the real deal.
John Wick’s European Vacation
Where do you go when you’ve pretty much killed everyone to kill in America? Europe of course. Expect lots of pretty landscape shots.
He’s a hunted man
And there are some pretty cool cats on his tail – Common, Ruby Rose and John Leguizamo to name just a few who are coming along for the ride.
Real stunts and action, action, action!
This is what we want from an action film: realistic fight scenes and as little shaky cam as possible. It’s well-known now that Keanu likes to go all out for his roles, and this one was no different. Videos surfaced of him undergoing tactical training and martial arts, meaning he could well be deadlier in real-life than John is in the film.
A mini Matrix reunion
Try and tell us you didn’t get goosebumps seeing Neo and Morpheus on the same screen again?
