KEVIN SPACEY AS KEVIN SPACEY – THIS IS WHY HE’S THE COOLEST GUY EVER

Kevin Spacey is one of Hollywood’s most sought-after and charismatic actors. Here’s why he oozes cool both on and off camera

Born on July 26, 1959 in South Orange, New Jersey, Kevin Spacey was the youngest of three children. And he’s been standing out from the crowd ever since. He’s played iconic characters on stage and both the big and small screen. Despite currently occupying the White House as the sometimes ruthless President Frank Underwood in House of Cards, Spacey doesn’t always take himself too seriously as he showed at a Florida Panthers game.

Actor. Film director. Producer. Singer. Comedian. Is there anything Kevin Spacey can’t do?

HE HAS A FILMOGRAPHY TO DIE FOR

He might look like a secondary school teacher but you don’t need to go further than Kevin Spacey for some of the most memorable performances on the big screen. L.A. Confidential. The Usual Suspects. American Beauty. Se7en. Need we go on?

WHEN SPACEY ADDRESSES YOU, YOU LISTEN

But just whom is he speaking to when he breaks the fourth wall? “The person you’re actually talking to of course are people on a ten-hour Netflix binge, sucking on boxed wine,” he told The Late Show. Move over, Deadpool, there’s a new champ in town.

EVEN THE MILITARY CAN’T HANDLE SPACEY

As a young boy he was sent to California’s Northridge Military Academy by his parents after he lit his sister’s treehouse on fire. Verging on child delinquent but cool all the same. He was then expelled for throwing a tyre at his classmate. That’s right. No one messes with Spacey.

HE LOVES PLAYING THE BAD GUY

Who wants a superhero in a cape and leotards when you can have a cool villain played with panache by an all-time acting great? He told The Times: “We’ve had this remarkable runway of extraordinary antiheroes. I think audiences have demanded it. They don’t want cookie cutter stuff.” So says the man who returns for the fourth season of House of Cards. Damn right, Mr Underwood.

HE LIKES HIS PRIVACY – AND HE TELLS IT LIKE IT IS

“No one’s personal life is in the public interest. It’s gossip, bottom line. End of story. Now some people feed that. They’ll go to the trendy restaurants where all the photographers are and then bitch about being famous. But if you don’t want to feed that and you want your life to be based around what your work is then it ends there”, he said in an interview with The Daily Beast.

HE DOES A MEAN IMPERSONATION

HE NEVER GETS TOO BIG FOR HIS OWN BOOTS

Just check out his bio for his Twitter account: “Former shoe salesman now making a go at film and theater.”

HE’S COOL ENOUGH TO KNOW HOW LUCKY HE IS

In an online Q&A, he said: “If there is one thing I object to, it’s actors talking about how tough their jobs are. My job is a joy and I feel a little bit like Clarence Darrow who said, ‘When I was nine years old, my father put me to work hoeing potatoes. Then I went into law and I’ve not done a day’s work since.’ If I hear one more actor saying ‘I had to prepare physically for the role’ I want to hit them.” Watch out pretty much every other actor out there, he’s coming for you.
