Summer is a wonderful time of the year, and it is no surprise that many musicians have shown their love for the season. Here are some of the best songs of the summer

“Surfin’ U.S.A.” - The Beach Boys

There probably isn’t another band in the world that has such a strong connection with the summer season as The Beach Boys. Their early work was inspired by the surfing culture in the US at the time, and songs like “Surfin’ U.S.A.” helped strengthen this association. Just listening to it makes you feel all sandy in all the wrong places.

“Summertime” - DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince

This piece of summertime gold comes from 1991, when the prince was still fresh, and didn’t look like uncle Phil. It has that early ’90s flair and colour that just makes you want to reach for your Nerf gun and get out to the park.

“Summer In The City” - The Lovin’ Spoonful

You’ve probably never heard of the band, but you’ll know the song, we’re willing to bet our best sandcastle on it. “Summer in the City” sums up the stifling inner-city heat and the bittersweet side effects of the summer months if you’re stuck in a concrete jungle.
