The first half of 2015 hasn’t failed to deliver on blockbuster hits and indie gems that have wowed our senses and challenged our minds. Many of these films have had one thing in common: They have shown us glimpses of the vast potential Hollywood’s future stars have, especially these ten actresses who all have bright careers ahead of them.
Who: Dylan Frances Penn, 24, USA
What you should know: Being the only child of successful Hollywood stars Sean Penn and Robin Wright certainly has its advantages, and having the looks on top of that doesn’t hurt either. She attracted attention in 2013 by dating Twilight star Robert Pattinson and she definitely has that je ne sais quoi thing about her.
Upcoming Roles: She makes her acting debut this year in the Horror movie Condemned next to Lydia Hearst, and will play alongside Kevin Spacey in the comedy-drama Elvis & Nixon.
Fun Fact: Dylan refused an offer (of more than 100.000 Euro) to star on the cover of Playboy. In 2014 she bared all for the Treats! Magazine.
Who: Dakota Johnson, 25, USA
What you should know: She has the perfect qualifications for being a successful actress: famous parents (she’s the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson), good looks and - most importantly - talent. All she needed was the right movie to get her career started. Her portrayal of Anastasia Steele in the screen adaption of Fifty Shades of Grey certainly caught a lot of people’s attention. Is she going to be the next big, big thing? We are definitely looking forward to seeing her make her mark on Hollywood.
Upcoming Roles: With Fifty Shades of Grey being a sequel, we will see Dakota whip and flog a couple more times. This year she will play alongside Tilda Swinton in the thriller A Bigger Splash and in the much-anticipated Drama Black Mass next to Johnny Depp and Benedict Cumberbatch.
Fun Fact: Even though she acted in the Facebook movie The Social Network, she took down her own profile, because she didn’t like being on it.
Quote: [on filming Fifty Shades of Grey] “Sometimes I did walk off the set feeling a bit shell-shocked. The drive home from work helped me snap out of it. And a big glass of wine.” Dakota allegedly took a flogger and several pairs of underwear from the set, explaining that the undies were “so comfortable”. Who? Shailene Woodley, 23, USA
What you should know: Her big screen breakthrough appearing next to George Clooney in The Descendants in 2011, brought her critical acclaim and recognition from the discerning movie industry - and also won her a Golden Globe. Since then, Shailene has had a handful of strong, authentic roles, such as her major part in the Divergent Series, a trilogy based on the Divergent novels by Veronica Roth.
Upcoming roles: We can look forward to seeing her on the big screen in January’s Snowden alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Nicolas Cage, and in the second part of the Divergent Series.
Trivia: For her leading role in The Fault in our Stars where she plays a girl suffering from cancer, she cut off her hair, later asking her fans to do the same and donate it to an organisation called Children With Hair Loss.
Fun Fact: Shailene was offered the role of Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey, but the role eventually went to Dakota Johnson.

Who: Emily Ratajkowski, 24, UK
What you should know: Born in the UK and raised in Californina, this 24-year-old, has way more to offer than “just” her looks. Debuting in 2013 in Robert Thicke’s music video Blurred Lines (topless!) might have kickstarted her career, but since then she has become an international social media darling (2.8 million Instagram followers) and is now on the verge of becoming a successful Hollywood actress. You may remember her as Ben Affleck other love interest alongside Rosamund Pike in Gone Girl.
Upcoming roles: With Entourage (she’s playing herself in the upcoming feature film of the TV-series) and We Are Your Friends, starring Zac Efron, both hitting the big screen this year, we will see how she performs.
Fun Fact: Watch out for tipsy Emily: In an interview she disclosed that she starts to get a bit of an Irish twang after a couple of drinks.
Who: Lily James, 26, UK
What you should know: Downton Abbey was Lily’s first big break. Since then she has moved onto film with appearances in Wrath of the Titans and Fast Girls. Landing the major role in Disney’s Cinderella adaption alongside Cate Blanchett shows that she is someone to take notice of.
Upcoming roles: This year we will see her appear in Adam Jones alongside Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller and Uma Thurman. Lily also has a starring role in Jane Austin’s screen adaption Pride and Prejudices and Zombies that will be released next year.
Fun Facts: Her real name is Lily Chloe Ninette Thomson. And she is a sixth cousin of former U.S. President George Bush through her American grandmother.

Who: Alicia Vikander, 26, Sweden
What you should know: The Swedish beauty is definitely one to watch out for. Having first gained international attention playing a small role in Anna Karenina in 2012, she seemed destined for big things. Since then she has appeared in The Fifth Estate alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and Daniel Brühl in Seventh Son with Juliane Moore, as well as in this year’s sci-fi drama Ex Machina.
Upcoming Roles: The future looks bright for Alicia. She’s landed a major role in the still unnamed Bourne sequel, as well as appearances in Tulip Fever, The Light Between Oceans starring Michael Fassbender, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Danish Girl playing alongside Amber Heard and in Adam Jones with Bradley Cooper.
Fun Fact: Alicia is a trained ballet dancer and studied ballet at the Royal Swedish Ballet School.

Who: Lily Collins, 26, UK
What you should know: Since her appearance in The Blind Side next to Sandra Bullock, she has landed one role after another, having major parts in Abduction, Mirror Mirror, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and Love, Rosie. And this is not all she is good at: She is also well known for her journalistic work, having written for a variety of media oulets such as NY Confidential, Teen Vogue and Los Angeles Times.
Upcoming Roles: The British-American beauty will be starring in the drama Untitled Warren Beatty Project, coming out in 2016, playing alsongside Alec Baldwin and Matthew Broderick.
Fun Fact: Lily is the daughter of English musician Phil Collins, who dedicated the song “You’ll Be In My Heart” to her.

Who: Cara Delevingne, 23, UK
What you should know: If you follow fashion, trends and stars, then you don’t need us to tell you who Cara Delevingne is. She’s has built up a reputation over the past few years as one of the best booked models in the world, and she’s also been busy trying her hand at acting as well. She worked as a singer on Anna Karenina, has appeared in a couple of music videos and starred, together with Pharrell Williams, in Chanel’s short film Reincarnation by Karl Lagerfeld. Now the bubbly Brit has officially branched out into the world of movies and has a couple of pretty big ones ahead of her. Watch out Hollywood, here comes Cara …
Upcoming Roles: In Paper Towns, coming out this year, she will have her first major role. Further projects will be released this year, such as Pan, where she plays alongside Amanda Seyfried and Hugh Jackmann, Tulip Fever, London Fields with Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, and Kids in Love. She will be getting comic book fans hot under the collar in DC’s Suicide Squad, which is set for a 2016 release.
Fun Fact: Cara loves to beatbox - she once revealed, that she has been doing it for her entire life, not even knowing what it was exactly.

Who: Teresa Mary Palmer, 29, Australia
What you should know: Having been discovered on the street, Teresa had her first movie role in 2006 with 2:37 without an audition and without ever having acted before. Over the years she has been in a couple of movies including December Boys, playing alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Bedtime Stories with Adam Sandler and bringing back a zombie from the dead in Warm Bodies. This could well be a big year for the Australian’s career.
Upcoming Roles: She will appear in the Drama Knight of Cups starring Christian Bale, Natalie Portman and Cate Blanchett amongst others; furthermore she stars in the long-awaited remake of Point Break, as well as in next year’s Triple 9 with Kate Winslet. She has also landed the major role in Nicholas Spark’s latest screen adaption The Choice that will hit the big screen in 2016.
Fun Fact: Back home in Australia she had pet kangaroos.
Who: Zoë Isabella Kravitz, 26, USA
What you should know: She is way more than “just” Lenny’s [Kravitz] daughter … to shrug her off as another starlet with famous parents (her mother is Lisa Bonet) would be a mistake. Her first roles came in 2007 alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones in No Reservations, and then playing a teenage prostitute in the thriller The Brave One starring Jodie Foster. Her acting breakthrough came in 2011 with her role in Marvel’s X-Men: First Class.
Upcoming movies: Zoë stars in two major projects: the highly-anticipated Divergent Series and Mad Max: Fury Road. She is also set to appear in a couple of indie movies this year, for instance the music drama Viena and the Fantomes starring Dakota Fanning.
Fun Fact: She fronts a band, called Lolawolf and in 2013 she launched a jewelry line in collaboration with Swarovski. Furthermore, Zoë works professionally as a model.
