Vin Diesel vs. The Rock:
Crazy Hollywood feuds
In the Fast & Furious series, Dom Toretto, aka Vin Diesel, is all about his family. In a broader sense, Luke Hobbs, played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, is also part of the franchise family but there appears to be little harmony between these two film heavyweights.
It’s been particularly striking that on the promotional tour for Fast & Furious 8, Diesel and Johnson have not made a single joint appearance.
The alleged trigger for the dispute came on Facebook where The Rock called his colleagues “unprofessional”. It is reported that Vin Diesel’s behaviour and tardiness on set would frequently get on the nerves of the ex-wrestler. It’s also been speculated whether the whole thing is a PR exercise.
Either way, the Fast & Furious 8 stars are in good company with their public feud as this actor aggro shows:
- George Clooney vs. David O. Russell
- LL Cool J vs. Jamie Foxx
- Shia LaBeouf vs. Tom Hardy
- Tyrese Gibson vs. James Franco
George Clooney vs. David O. Russell
Director David O. Russell is known for both his Oscar-winning masterpieces like Silver Linings Playbook and The Fighter and also for his hot temper which has caused him to get into trouble with various actors. On the set of Three Kings, George Clooney apparently had enough of the way Russell treated the crew members and he turned on the director with fists said to have flown. Even years later the otherwise peaceful Hollywood star couldn’t speak well of David O. Russell, describing the Three Kings production as one of the worst experiences of his life.
LL Cool J vs. Jamie Foxx
On the set of Any Given Sunday, there was a struggle between co-stars LL Cool J and Jamie Foxx, who probably took their roles as football players a bit too seriously. The fight got so out of control that even the local police were called. Later LL Cool J included his dislike for Foxx in his song: “U Can’t F*ck With Me” where he rapped: “Once and for all, what’s my opinion on Jamie Foxx? He pussy. Pussy ain’t funny as Chris Rock, Ha.”
Shia LaBeouf vs. Tom Hardy
While making 2012’s Lawless, there was more drama between Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy. The two stars found themselves involved in a fierce fight during filming due to a number of differences of opinion. Shia LaBeouf claimed the win for himself. In an interview with Details magazine, he later boasted: “(Hardy) never did that roughhouse stuff with me again.” Hardy is also on record in an interview saying he was knocked out. Is it true? Only the two opponents know for sure.
Tyrese Gibson vs. James Franco
Using method acting, James Franco was so deep into his role during the filming of Annapolis that he actually struck his co-star Tyrese Gibson during a boxing scene. Franco later denied that he hit him but still assumed responsibility for problems during the shoot. However, for Gibson, the issue seems to be decided once and for all. He told Playboy in an interview in 2007: “I never want to work with him again, and I’m sure he feels the same way. It felt very personal. It was f**ked-up.”
