Euro 2016 Special: Bordeaux

La Belle Bourgeoise. With its breathtaking architecture and its dynamic bars and bodegas, diverse and lively Bordeaux is the perfect place to raise a glass of its famed red wine après-match and talk about the game. The Red Bulletin brings you the best of this elegant city

Long known as “La Belle Endormie”—or Sleeping Beauty—Bordeaux sits on the Atlantic coast and is the main city in the French Aquitaine region. Its magnificent architectural heritage and particularly well preserved and extensive city centre make it a popular choice as a location for period films.

Forgotten by city planners, the city had languished for years until a change of policy in 1995 began major restoration work. The Garonne waterfront in the centre of the city was transformed into a wonderful place to take a stroll, to relax in a café or to eat in one of its famous restaurants

And for revellers, the Place de la Victoire has the highest concentration of bars in a small area in France.

Bordeaux will have its own Fan Zone in the Esplanade des Quinconces for the duration of the competition. The special programme of live broadcasts of all Euro 2016 matches, concerts on non-match days and soccer-related events means fans can enjoy the festive atmosphere free of charge.
