The Five Most Stylish Bars in Chicago

Why go outside when you can spend your waking hours in these booze-filled, aesthetically pleasing establishments?

With nearly 10 million people in its metropolitan area, Chicago is the third largest city in the United States. Only New York and Los Angeles surpass the Windy City with regards to population, but the Illinois city has the added honour of representing what’s best in the Midwest.

From its world-renowned museums to its massive music festivals, Chicago has the knack for bringing people together and, as a cultural hub, is home to a plethora of places to host such gatherings. Thankfully, a lot of those places serve delicious, alcoholic beverages to thirsty people ready to let loose.

Since it’s a major tourist destination and a bustling metropolis, Chicago’s bar scene isn’t exactly lacking in options. However, not every boozy establishment is created equal — especially when it comes to style. Because, you see, some bars might have a great beer or cocktail list, but they also could have no heart…or worse, have bad lighting.

To separate the proverbial wheat from the chaff, we called upon VAM — a Chicago-based underground creative collective — to guide us through the Windy City’s most authentic and fashionable taverns.

And because quality is always more important than quantity, we’ve come together and carefully curated a list of the city’s all-time, top five bars. High Fidelity’s Rob Gordon would be proud.
