There have been some remarkable achievements in the world of mainstream sports this year, but this isn’t about those. We look back on record-breaking year from a wingsuit pilot, an ultra-runner and a couple of Olympians. 

Sure, Lebron James led the Cleveland Cavaliers back from 3-1 to capture the NBA championship. And there was that 4’8” dynamo Simone Biles, winning everything that gymnastics had to offer (it seemed) on the Olympic level.

But ahead of next week’s interview with fencer Miles Chamley-Watson, we’re taking this episode of The Red Bulletin Podcast to look at the athletes who maybe didn’t register on your radar. And though they come from different sports, they share something in common: the mental hurdles they had to overcome to find success in 2016.
